We are a small kennels in Castleford, West Yorkshire - "MEKART", our affix, is taken from our names MARTyn & KAREn

Martyn has grown up with boxers and had them around him as pets since being a boy remembering mostly ROCKY. He was a nutty but pleasant dog that left Martyn with lots of fond memories, sadly he passed away at the ripe old age of 13

Karen however has been in the show ring for many years from childhood with her father a well known breeder of Irish Setters. When Karen was 17 she moved to Chicago and continued to show Irish setters, after a few years she moved to Arizona where she bought her first Spinonie a rare breed at the time - she had much success with the Spinonie breed and later moved back to England. After observing various breeds and due to Martyn's love for the Boxer we decided to show and breed.

Showing dogs has been a passion of Karen's for 30 years, although at times she has not been as active as others she has never lost the excitement, she still gets nervous before entering the ring and anticipation waiting for a judge to place you or not still fills her with trepidation. Dog handlers can be a mixed breed themselves as you find in any walks of life, some will help all they can and advise you on how best in there opinion to show, others keep themselves to themselves. This is all part of gaining experience, learning and socialising and building up to putting quality in your breed.

We are currently owned by four boxers “Molly”, "KoKo", "Archie" & "Shankley" - Molly is our 3 year old black mask brindle, she has beautiful chevron markings on her back and we always receive comments about how pretty she is. KoKo is our 18 month golden flashy brindle purchased from Sue Harvey FAERDORN kennels - after spending lots of time visiting kennels we decided that this was the line of breed we wanted to tie with. She is doing really well in the ring winning many firsts in shows all over the uk and has won Best of Breed at three open shows.
Archie is KoKo's litter brother. We now also have Shankley who is our newest recruit from the Stanryk kennels
